Reading Marion Poschmann: “Die Winterschwimmerin” and other texts

Marion Poschmann will be reading at the Wassermann bookshop on 18.6.2025. Tickets can be purchased directly at the bookshop or via the bookshop’s website.

With poetic verve, Marion Poschmann tells of the excitement and happiness of an extraordinary experience of nature. Of the desire to overcome oneself, to discover unexpected abilities and to make the impossible possible. Contemporary milieu study and wondrous legend merge in the artful linguistic expression, playfully light and strictly bound verses culminate in a modern adaptation of the Leich, the medieval, virtuously rhymed master poem.

About the book: Thekla swims in open waters, even in icy temperatures. She sees it as a whole-body cognitive process and tries to get to the bottom of herself and the relationship between body and soul, nature and spirit in the wintry landscape. As she immerses herself in the breathtakingly clear water and deals with the violence of the cold, she finds a sense of freedom and autonomy. Then she encounters an escaped tiger.
